Hey Paleo Kids.
Ghee is pretty awesome. Its essentially clarified butter and aside from the fact that is makes everything taste AMAZING… it has none of the problematic stuff that makes you feel like crap- caesin and lactose…Ghee is pure FAT. and thats phat ( or its late and i’m tired).
Another winning factor is that it is super easy to make.
I used 600g of UNSALTED butter
– Put your butter into a pot, turn on the heat to medium and let the butter melt.
– Turn the heat down to low and let the butter simmer
Now for some weird reason I didn;t photograph this next stage..you’re just going to have to use your imagination.
The melted butter will start to form a white frothy foam on the top and it gradually turns a golden brown colour.
When the foamy layer is golden brown, the melted butter will be translucent and you will actually see little brown milk solid bits at the bottom on the pot.
This means your ghee is ready!
-Turn off the heat
– spoon out the foam
– pour the mixture into a jar THROUGH A STRAINER- you want to get rid of the milk solids!
Your ghee will look like this when melted:
I keep mine in the fridge but you can keep it out the fridge in an air tight container.
You can do all yummy things with it like fry up sage and eggs
roast chicken with cauliflower mash with ghee and fried sage ( obsessed) and roasted veggies cooked in ghee and sea salt
